To buy or to sketch

Should I sketch my own design and construct my own pattern? Or should I skip the highway and purchase a sewing pattern? huhu I’m so lazy lah nowadays, I wanna make more craft~ :panic:

I really like the Black and White Zebra prints by Paula Prass from her Summer Soiree Collection, but it is so hard to find lah. Most of it already sold out ;( So, I’m thinking of using houndstooth pattern from Summer Soiree or Alexander Henry’s.

Actually, my top fave fabric for messenger bag is this one (Alexander Henry – Nicole Prints – Headtrip in Charcoal) I’m a sucka for SKULLS Prints~ lalala~   weeeeeeeeeeee~~ :cheer:

I personally love this print, Tablecloth in Brown from Anna Maria Horner’s Garden Party Collection. I’m still in love with damask print, but have only use it for tote and home decor. Never thought that damask print can be used for garment, but this one is so nice! Right?!!

Currently I’m into damask print and I’m planning to use these cotton in making a tote or shoulder bag. Something like this… :aww: Nice isn’t it?!!

I’m marking my craft diary so next week’s project is gonna be making this, yippey ya yay~

Novelty fabrics are fabrics with a theme of some sort. Pets, holidays, toys, and sports are just a few of the numerous motifs printed on fabric.

This type of fabric became popular during the last quarter of the 19th century . At this time they were called conversation prints. Bicycles, horseshoes and anchors were popular motifs.

During America’s Great Depression manufacturers began to sell animal feed and staples like flour and sugar in sacks printed with delightful themes. Once the feed sack was emptied the sack was used to make clothing or quilts. There were some delightful novelty prints on feedsacks. See the link to feedsack novelty fabrics.

The novelty fabrics available today seem to be endless and include just about any theme you can imagine. Just one word of warning. If you find a novelty fabric you love you’d better buy it then and there as they are usually done in just one printing.

Ingat tak entri sebelum ini tentang designer fabric untuk dibuat baju kurung? hehe guess what? saya dah beli 8 ela kain dengan 4 corak yang berbeza!!! :aww: Tersangat teruja ni, tak sabar nak suruh Madam Anne jahit baju kurung dari fabrik-fabrik tu :cheer:

Pada pendapat saya, kain-kain cotton US ni sedikit tebal dari Viscose dan ia tak mudah berkedut. It’s thick but wearable. Harap-harap tak menyebabkan rasa panas.

Jadi, minggu ini saya dan Madam Anne akan cuba jahit sepasang baju kurung (for dearest me ‘lah of course :hehe:) dan prototype  ini akan diuji keselesaannya. Sama ada sesuai atau tidak dengan cuaca panas lembap Malaysia ni~ ps: 

Ops, sebelum saya terlupa. Fabrik ini saya beli hanya 2 ela untuk setiap corak dan akan digunakan untuk baju ‘nya sahaja. Untuk kain bawah ‘nya pula saya akan gunakan plain cotton (mungkin RM25 semeter) atau opsyen yang lebih murah iaitu kain kosong biasa~ ps:
